Article/video: The life-changing bag maker praised by Bill Gates

Thato Kgatlhanye’s solar-powered backpacks made from old plastic bags help kids stay safe and study.

Here’s an interview that I’m very glad to have been responsible for. Amazing project.

Article/video: This is what it’s like to become a cyborg

Here’s a video and article I made for Red Bull, again having the initial end and being involved at every step, filming the video while I received a bionic implant – to become “a cyborg – to give a first-person glimpse at the experience.

I also wrote a fuller feature for The Red Bulletin which goes more into the rationale and effects. Find it here.

Interactive guide: Explore how to perform the perfect cliff dive

Here’s a guide that I produced and wrote for Red Bull about their Cliff Diving World Series. It’s the first time this style of interactive was developed and used, so was great to come up with the idea and bring it to fruition, being hands on at every stage.

Pure Moth launches

This month I have launched my new website Pure Moth. It will feature other contributors and myself creating content about a broad range of topics.

As the tagline indicates, my plan is that it can span everything from serious topics to things that may be considered more nonsensical.

It’s very early days, but there are already some great contributors involved, and it will be great to be able to feature and promote their work.

You can find Pure Moth on the following channels:

Let’s Do The Cat Dance released

The short film I made in Glasgow called Let’s Do The Cat Dance is now out. It’s about the nature of creation, and a cat puppet. Enjoy!

V.Point launches

New year, new challenge and all that: I have joined a brand new website called V.Point as a Senior Producer and Writer. It launched yesterday, and its tagline proclaims it to provide “News, #notnews and opinion on stuff you care about.” I’m part of a very talented team so it’s an honour to be involved from the very start, and you’ll be able to find my bylined content here or using the link in the menu above.

I won’t post every article on to this page, since other social media will provide the perfect outlet for that, but here are a few of my first pieces:

I’m also involved in the visual aspects, and in the past week have been producing graphics and video elements that will be used across the site and provide stylistic templates for future content.

iWonder guide: What’s the maths behind a dream FA Cup draw?

The latest iWonder guide that I’ve produced for Skillswise/BBC Sport came out on January 1st, and examines the maths behind the FA Cup draw. It’s presented by Dan Walker and also features Rachel Riley and Robbie Savage. I was responsible for the production from when the idea was proposed until final publication. Being extremely hands-on, I was directly involved in writing/scripting/video editing/interactive creation/image editing, and also oversaw the making of other interactives and visual content.
